The Lion and the Sheep
I like visiting hill stations and have frequently visited McLleod Ganj (near Dharamshala, India) during my school and college years. The place where I usually stay is on one side of the hill, and the main market square is on the other side.
The road that connects both sides has tea stalls and shops at regular intervals, and on the opposite side, one can see an entire mountain range. I walk this road at the beginning of each day wondering how the day will go, and then again at night while returning. There is also a monastery in the midway, so I see a lot of monks going to the market and returning from it.
This painting is a tribute to the times when I walked (and will again, soon) that road.
I textured the canvas using gesso before painting.
